Recharge America Spotlights Energy New England’s Electric Vehicle Program Impact

Feb 6, 2026

Recharge America, a national nonprofit, recently highlighted Energy New England in its participant spotlight, recognizing our continued commitment to electric vehicle education and community engagement across Massachusetts. We’re proud to see our work acknowledged as part of a shared effort to make transportation electrification more accessible and effective for our participant communities.

In 2025, our EV efforts focused on meeting residents and businesses where they are. Through the MOR-EV program and in partnership with Municipal Light Plants, our dedicated electric vehicle team supported more than 40 events statewide, including EV ride-and-drive events with customers of Braintree Municipal Light Department and Hingham Municipal Light Plant, collaborations with the Association of Energy Engineers New England Chapter, and tabling at events with Taunton Municipal Light Plant.

Beyond events, we continued to provide ongoing EV support through dedicated websites, online resources, and monthly newsletter content tailored for Municipal Light Plant customers. Our EV Help Desk played a key role in answering questions and connecting residents and businesses with trusted information, available rebates, and clearing next steps.

Looking ahead to 2026, Katelyn Leahy Barb, Senior Manager, Energy Transformation at ENE, will be representing public power utilities as a host at Recharge America’s Innovation Exchange focused on the EV Ecosystem, a quarterly forum exploring the innovations in electrification.

Recharge America’s NEW Innovation Exchange

Energy New England is focused on expanding EV awareness, increasing access to rebates, and strengthening support programs across Municipal Light Plant communities throughout Massachusetts. Recognition from Recharge America reinforces the importance of utility-led education and collaboration as we work to ensure more communities have the tools and confidence to participate in transportation electrification.
