Energy New England President and CEO receives National Leadership and Managerial Excellence Award

Boston, Massachusetts, June 30, 2026 — John G. Tzimorangas, President and CEO at Energy New England, received the Mark Crisson Leadership and Managerial Excellence Award during the American Public Power Association’s National Conference in Boston, Massachusetts. The award recognizes leaders at a utility, joint action agency, or state or regional association who steer their organizations to new levels of excellence, lead by example, and inspire their staff to commit to excellence in their business.   

John serves as President and CEO of Energy New England, empowering employees take on greater responsibility, streamline operations, and continuously improve service delivery to members. Under his leadership, ENE has addressed its members’ evolving needs through new acquisitions, timely transactions, and exploring innovative services. John is a strong voice in legislative and regulatory matters, actively supporting key initiatives and participating in the APPA’s CEO Climate Change and Generation Policy Committee, as well as serving on the Governor’s Commission on Energy Infrastructure Siting and Permitting and the Massachusetts Energy Transformation Advisory Board. He also strengthened member engagement as President of Northeast Public Power Association and serving on the Board since 2004. 

John has been Energy New England CEO since 2011 growing the company significantly in that time period and creating an atmosphere for the leadership team and employees at Energy New England to be successful at the individual and company level. John has increased the profile of Energy New England in the region and serves as a leader in public power.  

Under John’s leadership, Energy New England strategically expanded by acquiring Utility Services of Vermont (USV) adding critical NERC Compliance, risk mitigation and reliability services to the Energy New England core business. John also founded ENE Strategies and ENE Transmission (ENE-T), both of which have become significant drivers of innovation and value to the ENE staff and its members.
