Fall is my favorite season. Cooler temperatures, crisp air, and beautiful foliage encourage folks to spend more time outside taking in nature.
The first day of Fall also marks the beginning of National Drive Electric Week. NDEW is a nationwide event to celebrate and raise awareness of the many benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid cars, trucks, motorcycles, e-bikes, electric scooters, and more.
NDEW events are attended by people curious about electric vehicle ownership, current EV owners and enthusiasts, EV dealerships, sustainability groups, national and local utilities, and city and town officials. These events are a great place to test drive new and used EV’s from local dealerships, ask current EV owners about their experiences with EV ownership and speak to EV program representatives in a low-pressure setting.
Every year, as EV adoption increases, these events get bigger and more popular with a greater variety of EV’s and sponsors. Energy New England (ENE) participated in many NDEW and local utility sponsored EV events in Massachusetts between September 17th and October 28th.
ENE’s role at these EV events is to:
- Raise awareness about the various local utility and Commonwealth sponsored EV rebate programs available to consumers and dealerships.
- Be an experienced EV owner resource for EV event attendees.
- Assist in coordination EV event logistics including test drives with EV dealerships and event sponsors.
This season, ENE staff attended the following EV events and spoke to hundreds of attendees:
September 17, Raynham Community Family Fun Day
ENE staff attended this Community event to discuss EV incentives through the MOR-EV program and Taunton Municipal Light Plant’s TMLP Drives Electric Program.
September 23, Beverly / Salem National Drive Electric Week
The day was a little drizzly, but the event took place under a large solar roof!
September 24, Quincy National Drive Electric Week
The Quincy event was hosted by Quincy Asian Resources, Inc. (QARI). Visitors got the opportunity to test drive EV’s and discuss EV ownership with current EV owners.
September 30, The Hebert Candy Mansion National Drive Electric Week – Shrewsbury

October 1, Concord Ride and Drive – Concord Carlisle High School
This NDEW event was hosted by Concord Municipal Light Plant and Concord Sustainability Department. ENE provided staffing and assisted with the test drive logistics. Seventeen dealers provided test drive vehicles for the event. 128 people test drove the various EV’s and another 29 people rode along.
