Shred the Peak Program
What is Shred the Peak?
Peak demand occurs when the highest level of electricity is consumed in a region. Peak electricity is expensive and affects power supply costs, which in turn impacts all customer bills. RMLD’s Shred the Peak campaign is an effort to collectively reduce RMLD’s electricity use during peak demand in order to control costs and keep rates affordable. RMLD issues Shred the Peak alerts to notify customers when a peak is predicted, and asks customers to take simple steps to conserve electricity during the predicted peak window.
Please visit RMLD’s website for more information. Questions about the program, contact Customer Service at 781-942-6598 or energyrmld@rmld.com.
Time of Use (TOU) Rate
All residential customers are automatically enrolled in RMLD’s standard Residential Schedule A Rate. Under this rate, customers are billed based on their kilowatt-hour usage. The rate is consistent regardless of the time of day the electricity is used.
Residential customers have the option to switch to the Time-of-Use (TOU) rate. Rather than one standard rate for all hours, time-of-use has two rates: one that is higher than the standard rate during on-peak hours when electricity is in high demand, and one that is lower than the standard rate during off-peak hours when electricity is not as in demand. Because a different type of meter is required for the time-of-use rate, the customer charge is slightly higher and customers are asked to stay on the rate for a minimum of one year.
Please visit the RMLD website to find out if TOU is right for you!
Commercial Energy Assessment
RMLD offers a financial incentive to qualifying commercial, industrial, and municipal customers who conduct an energy audit of their business.
Qualifying customers are eligible for a rebate of up to one-half of the cost of an ASHRAE Level 1 or Level 2 energy audit. If the customer then implements energy efficiency measures recommended by the audit, they are eligible for a rebate of the remainder of the cost of the audit.
Certain conditions apply and pre-approval is required. Please contact RMLD’s Integrated Resources Department at 781-942-6598 for more information.
Commercial Custom Rebate Program
The Custom Rebate Program is for non-residential customers who install ENERGY STAR rated or other high-energy efficient custom equipment within their facility that will result in net energy savings and/or demand reduction. The rebate is available for retrofits of existing equipment or new construction. RMLD preapproval is required. Custom Equipment will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
